What are rub-ons? Rub-ons are designs, words, numbers, etc. that are transferred from their original paper via rubbing onto a scrapbook page.
Why use rub-ons? It is good to add versatility and dimension to your pages. You can rub onto almost anything your heart desires. You can rub on chipboard, on paper, on a photo and etc.

Furthermore, rub-ons are a great choice for adding a hand-created look to paper crafts. There are also some decorative design elements available as rub-ons too! Best of all, rub-ons provide a clean, neat appearance as there is no edge or "ring" that is often seen by a clear sticker.

One of my favorite scrapbook products to work with is die-cuts. They are inexpensive, available in almost every theme and by every company, and each package usually has a good variety of shapes and designs.

My personal favorite brand for die-cuts is K & Company, so I was really excited to work with there new Valentine’s package. I have used the die-cuts lots of times, and love how much comes in that package. Everything also coordinates with their paper lines and other products. I picked these up at Target, but you can find a large selection of K & Company products and TwoPeasInABucket.com and Scrapbook.com. I was able to finish 2 layouts and 3 cards, and still had a ton of pieces left for other things.

The first thing I noticed was the “Sweet Thing” title and all the candy and hearts. We recently had heart shaped cookies at the mall, and these were perfect for the page.

I am excited to see what else I can come up with using the rest of the die-cuts as well as other collections from K & Company’s new releases.

The paper bag calendar is made with 12 small sized paper bags, some machine stitching and a couple of binder rings. Are you ready to begin, OK lets get started!

Supplies:

12 Paper bags (brown lunch bag size)

Sew machine

Binder rings

Acrylic Paint

Hole Punch

Eyelets

Foam paint brush

2010 Calendar Template

Embellishment of your choice

Step 1 To get started fold each bag in half with the bottom half facing forward.

Step 2 Machine stitch each bag at the top and two sides leaving the bottom part of the bag open. Now that  each of the bags have been folded and  machine stitched around the edges this will  create a pocket to hold tags for important dates and addresses. You can even insert photos if this is a gift.

Step 3 Now you are ready to paint, take your foam paint brush and apply your paint to the front and back of each bag with acrylic paints then set them aside to dry. Approximate drying time may vary it all depends on what  brand of acrylics you used, but it should take any where from  30 to 40 mins to completely dry.

Step 4 Next, Print your 2010 Calendar CLICK HERE for the 2010 Calender template. For the best result print the template onto a piece of cardstock, then cut your months out and adhere them to the pages.

Step 5 Lastly, punch two holes at the top of each page to place your metal rings ,I also added eyelets to the top of each page this allows the calender to go month to month with easy. Next I started to embellish, you can embellish each page as you wish. For my some of my pages I have stamped images with ink or I have used rub-ons and stickers. Again embellishing and make the calendar you own is totally up to you.

I love the theme for this month being all about love. I discovered this adorable product line by ADORNit. Owls have been so hot and popular this year.

I work full time and my husband works away from home 4 days a week.  I have two boys under the age of 5.  So when I think scrapbooking I think quick, time savers that look sharp.  So when a company puts together a product line that matches, I go nuts!!!  You'll see how quick and easy this double layout goes together.

I selected to use the Owl Hoot A and cut it into two separate pieces.  I used my Provo Craft 12 inch trimmer a good bit.  After I selected my pictures I chose which elements out of the Owl kit I wanted to use.  I had 3 sheets of designer paper, 3 sheets of Bazzill card stock. a sheet of card stock stickers, and 12 inches of matching ribbon.

I used my Glue Glilder Pro for my adhesive to adhere my ribbon, pictures and paper.

I used s.e.i brads and the ADORNit Owl ribbon to accent along with the coordinating stickers.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you were able to see how with so few products you can create wonderful, fun layouts.  I only invested about $9.00 into these products and I was able to get another double page layout out of the kit.  PLUS I still have enough left over to do another 1 page layout or create a card with the scraps.

For this layout I used a 5x7 photo of my daughter, double matted the photo in coordinating blue and cranberry cardstock.  Created a red ribbon border  using three large white brads and a 3-D K and Company chipboard Christmas accent.  The photo is off-centered to the lower right corner of the designer paper and accented with coordinating red, blue and white felt snowflakes, which add texture to my layout.
