Summertime yields many opportunities to spend extra time with them that you don't have during the winter or school months. You can use this time to teach your child how to create their very own scrapbooks.

Using photos they have taken or that they pick out themselves, help get their creative juices flowing using some of the Disney layouts we have here on My Scrapbooking Supplies. Even if you've never been to Disneyworld or Disneyland, they can pretend and make a small album all their own. Perhaps you're saving up to take a family vacation, so creating a "dream" book will help remind them of the day they will get to go.

Another great scrapbook idea for kids during the summer months is to take photos of them doing all sorts of summer activities: swimming, a picnic, the 4th of July, on their way to and from summer camp, biking, playing outdoors, building a tree house, spending the day inside on a rainy day, a trip to the zoo, a trip to a farm or ranch, shopping for new school clothes, mowing the lawn and any other activities your child participates in during the summer.

Then using all those photos, have your child create their very own "what I did over summer vacation" scrapbook to take to school with them. They can create a page or two at a time all throughout the summer. Their teacher will be impressed, and you will have spent some great quality time with your child while helping them create their special book.

For older children and teens, they can create a scrapbook about baseball or band camp, hanging out with their friend, or starting their first job. Some teens are learning to drive, so you could get photos of them behind the wheel for the first time, or the day they take their driver's test.

There are lots of photo opportunities during the summer, with the fabulous lighting and great outdoor colors nature provides. Be sure to have your camera ready, as well as all your layout designs handy to start creating your summer scrapbook!
